Los Angeles County Home Repair Grants (2026)

Two grants, one catch most people miss

LACDA's Handyworker Grant and Senior Grant Program are both real, funded, no-repayment grants — but both are restricted to unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, and only within specific Supervisorial Districts (1, 4, and 5 for Handyworker; 1, 2, 4, and 5 for the Senior Grant). If you live inside an incorporated city — Long Beach, Santa Clarita, Pasadena, or the City of Los Angeles itself — these county grants don't apply to you; check whether your city runs its own program instead.

Eligibility and how much you can get

• Handyworker Grant: household income at or below 80% of Area Median Income (about $93,300 for a 1-person household); owner-occupied 12+ months; unincorporated Supervisorial Districts 1, 4, or 5 only. Max grant: $9,000.
• Senior Grant Program: homeowner 62 or older; income at or below 80% AMI; owner-occupied 12+ months; unincorporated Supervisorial Districts 1, 2, 4, or 5 only. Max grant: $20,000.
• Neither program covers incorporated cities within the county — check with your own city's housing department if you're not in an unincorporated area.
