What the county actually fixes

Run by the Maricopa County Human Services Department, this program mainly targets HVAC systems, water heaters, and minor electrical or plumbing repairs, along with accessibility modifications and appliance replacement (refrigerators, stoves). It's structured as a direct service — the county arranges and pays the contractor — rather than cash handed to you, and it comes with a firm $25,000 lifetime cap per applicant, not per project.

Eligibility and how to apply

• Income: household at or below 80% of Area Median Income (AMI).
• Ownership: must own and occupy the home as your primary residence for 1 year prior to applying.
• Standing: current on property taxes, mortgage, and HOA dues; liquid assets at or below $12,000.
• Timing: can't have been assisted by this program within the prior 12 months, and can't exceed the $25,000 lifetime cap.
• Priority: given to households with a member 62+, a person with a disability, a child under 6, or a non-functioning A/C or heating system.
