Two tiers for two kinds of need

The Home Repairs Program is Salt Lake City's larger option, sized for genuinely major work — up to $50,000, structured as a grant or low/no-interest loan depending on your circumstances. The Minor Repairs Program is smaller and faster, capped at $1,500, but specifically reserved for households with a senior or disabled member, covering things like grab bars, minor plumbing, and small safety fixes. Both are run by the city's Housing Stability Division and accept applications year-round rather than on a single annual cycle.

Eligibility and how to apply

• Home Repairs Program: owner-occupant, home within Salt Lake City boundaries, household income at or below 80% AMI for the Salt Lake metro. Max: $50,000.
• Minor Repairs Program: same location/ownership rules, plus requires a senior (62+) or disabled household member. Max: $1,500 in free repairs.
